Watergate Special General meeting results

The Special General Meeting (SGM) held on Monday 14 September 2105 passed a resolution to continue legal action against commercial hotel operators at Watergate Apartments.

With more than 50% of Lot entitlements in favour and no petition received in opposition, the interim resolution became a resolution on 13 October.

95.5% of voters say stop Watergate becoming a hotel

For every supporter of hotel-style businesses at Watergate there are 20 owners who are opposed. At the Special General Meeting on Monday 14 September, more than 95% of votes were cast in favour of taking the fight against short-stays to the Supreme Court.

Getting ready to renovate

We now have a Renovation Application to streamline the process of gaining approval for proposed renovations.

If you are planning to renovate your apartment you need to have approval from the Watergate Owners Corporation.

The new form is available on the website or can be obtained from the Building Manager.

Watergate action against short stays

Watergate has issued proceedings in VCAT against a small number of apartment owners who have been allowing their apartments to be used for hotel-style accommodation. The owners have refused to comply with Watergate rules against the activity. Further details will be posted as after the hearing in October.

Earlier this year VCAT ruled in favour of another Owners Corporation in a legal win over a short stay operator.
